who dis?
Dis is me, I’m an Amsterdam-based painter working primarily with oil paint.
My practice is driven by curiosity, experimentation, and a fascination with materials and their histories. Many of my paintings begin long before I enter the studio. I often find myself driving across cities and countryside in search of forgotten canvases, leftover paint, discarded materials, or simply an interesting story. While I do not work exclusively with reclaimed materials, I enjoy giving overlooked things a second life whenever possible. The search itself has become part of the process.
Rather than starting with a fixed image, I prefer to respond to what is already there. A damaged surface, an unexpected texture, a chance encounter, or a material with its own history can influence the direction of a painting. The process often feels less like constructing an image and more like discovering one.
My travels throughout Asia continue to influence how I think about making work. Not through grand revelations, but through everyday observations, craftsmanship, and the many different ways people create something meaningful from what is available.
My work balances control and coincidence, intention and accident. Sometimes a painting begins with a clear idea. More often, it starts with something small, overlooked, or unexpected and develops into something entirely different.
Which is probably why I still enjoy it.
